On October 23rd, 2016 I met one of my favorite artists in the world; Russ. If you have never heard of Russ, It wouldn’t surprise me because he is not super popular in the music world yet but trust me, he is on the rise and he will be big. Mark my words.
Russ is a hip-hop artist from Atlanta who produces, mixes, masters, engineers, and writes his own music. He has put out 11 albums and over 93 singles and currently is putting out new songs every week, while being on tour. Russ has been working for 10 years to bring his dreams to life and now that he is about to have two tours under his belt, I can’t wait to see what this man does with the rest of his career. His hit single “What They Want” is continually climbing the charts and I believe it will be the number #1 song one day.
I scored tickets the day he announced his tour -- I couldn’t go to his last concert so I made sure that I went to this one. When I purchased my ticket I also got a meet and greet because I could not resist not meeting him and taking a picture with him. I got to the venue at 11:45am and I was the first in line. My sister Cheyenne and I waited for six hours to make sure we got front row and we were the first ones inside the venue and of course, in the very front.
When Russ came out on stage, I was so excited I could not stop screaming. I felt extremely bad for the people around me because I was yelling the words to every single song he sang and I was so happy the entire time. It was one of those concerts where I was having so much fun that I forgot about everything else. One of the funniest things that kept happening was that I was on the right side of him and he would throw water onto the crowd so every time he threw the water, it went right into my face. I’m not complaining though it was very refreshing after jumping up and down with 1,500 other people for 2 hours.
After the concert, it was time to meet him. Truthfully, I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. I just walked up to him and said hi and gave him a hug. He signed my “Losin Control” hat and he gave me one of the best compliments I have ever received. He told me he loved my energy all night and to me that is a genuine compliment and I mean the fact that he remembered me from the crowd is quite awesome as well (even though I was right in front of him the entire time). We took our picture and then I told him that he was one of my birthday presents this year and he told me to have a good birthday. RUSS SAID HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE.
Overall, the experience of his concert was amazing. Having 1,500 people singing every word to every single song he sang was amazing and I can’t imagine how it felt for him. The whole time I felt like I was just singing the words to my favorite songs with all my best friends and being in an atmosphere like that doesn’t come around often and I’m lucky I got the chance to experience it. Thank you, Russ, for an amazing experience and for being an amazing artist. #YungGodTour
