If you live with a dancer, or if you are a dancer yourself, this is an article you can definitely relate to. Being a dancer means having an overwhelming amount of energy, and usually, if you claim you don’t have any energy left, you still have enough to bust out a whole combination on-command. Personally, I am a member of Ithaca College’s PULSE Hip Hop team, a tapper and sometimes I throw a little contemporary or ballet in there. But what is it really like to live with us 24/7? Well, now you can find out from a firsthand account and see if you are up for the challenge (My housemates were forced to live with me, so they didn’t have a choice).
But living with a dancer means:
1. Listening to them constantly talk to themselves about the choreography.
2. Expecting automatic hip or shoulder action whenever someone drops a beat.
3. Finding it hard to listen to music while studying because they can’t sit still.
4. Hearing them complain about choreography, formations, or music choice.
5. Listening to them sing out the steps for correct timing instead of counting them.
6. Giving them space at a party so they can obliterate their favorite part of a song.
7. Witnessing them and their other dance friends at a party break out into a routine when their song comes on.
9. Having to help them stretch.
10. Getting annoyed at some point by all the tapping on the floor.
11. Being unable to get by them in tight spaces, because they’re always dancing and you don’t want to get elbowed.
12. Every day is leg day.
13. Telling them to stop dancing when they don't even realize that they're doing it.
14. Watching they do the same thing multiple times in order to remember the choreography.
15. Expecting a lot of cursing while they're dancing.
16. Knowing that their feet will be covered in blisters, floor burns or Marley burns.
17. Noticing that bruises are always on the knees or shoulder blades (don’t make me do a shoulder roll again).
18. Realizing that stank face, sass, and facial expressions are everything.
19. Having a great snapchat story of them dancing in the kitchen, at parties, or really anywhere you can think of.
20. Seeing them dance whenever they're stressed.
21. Watching them prove how many pirouettes they can do.
22. Knowing the love every dancer has for Travis Wall.
23. Being forced to watch all the dance shows on TV.
24. Having them demonstrate a move that you don’t understand how to do.
25. Constantly wondering how you ended up being friends.
