Artificial intelligence is one of the biggest technological innovations of our time. However, the way AI is being handled needs to change. We need to be careful to not merge advanced AI with robotics or at the very least offer it any sort of emotional intelligence. AI needs to be purely logical and analytical. If we end up misusing artificial intelligence we can end up leading to the robotic singularity, or the point where AI surpasses the intelligence of the human race. This can end up having artificial intelligence sort of destroying humans out of the very idea of "compassion."
Even Elon Musk, who was worried in the past about the dangerous implications of misusing AI have ended up starting his own AI neural interface company. Transhumanism leads to the threat of making humans "hackable." I myself am an artificial intelligence researcher and use the idea of natural language processing for computing, logical analysis, etc. However, I would never advocate interfacing it with the human brain or giving it emotional intelligence, or merging it with modern robotics. AI is a remarkable new form of algorithmic computing and changes the way we develop out programs, but it can also be used to create dangerous things if we don't be careful.
