When summer hits, everyone is happy because it is finally lake season, but for me, it is finally river season. The water may not be as clear as a lake, but it sure is the same amount of fun. A lake can only be so big, but a river is miles and miles of fun. You can do everything and more at the river. Here are a couple of things that make going to the river just as or even more fun than the lake.
1. Everyone's biggest pet peeve is hearing the river be called the lake

It can be hard to explain to people that you are going to the river for the weekend because everyone thinks the river is dirty. Let me tell you something … it is not as dirty as some of the lakes you all go to.
2. Finding trails and taking back roads is a normal part of our day
Going down a trail on dirt bike
One of the many things I do at the river is take the dirt bike out and find new trails to go down.
3. It is a game to see who gets thrown off the jet ski first

Doing donuts is my specialty, but also trying to find the biggest waves to jump is a fun game for me as well. Everyone knows that it is end game for them when we see a barge coming down the river.
4. Golf cart rides can last up to a few hours
Cleaning off the golf cart
There is never just one destination when we all get on the golf cart. We just keep on driving because the whole ride is entertaining. We sometimes forget it is a golf cart because we take that thing just about everywhere.
5. Boat rides call for loud music and floating around
Friends on the boat
It does not matter how many people are there, everyone somehow fits on the boat. It is never not a good time when going for a boat ride.
6. No one goes to sleep before sitting around the fire
Sitting around the fire
Having a fire doesn't always mean we are roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Sitting around the fire is a way for everyone to catch up and reminisce on the day we just had.
7. Everyone is family at the river
Friends and family talking and eating lunch
Doesn't matter if we just met or I have known you for years, when you are at the river, everyone treats each other like family. Friends and neighbors you have at the river become your best friends. They are the kind of people you can go all fall, winter, and spring without talking to and still be able to start right back where you left off last summer.
