7 Rice Dishes You Need To Try

Rice is a delicious food staple through many continents of the world. It can be used in so many different ways for so many different dishes. The following dishes are some of my favorites and they're worth trying for yourself at home.

1. Paella

Paella is a very popular Spanish Dish that is mainly composed of rice, along with other vegetables and meats. I enjoy it so much because it can be varied depending on your preferences. My favorite version includes seafood, like mussels and shrimp, and vegetables with fragrant smells, like onions and peppers. This should definitely be on your must-try list for the future!

2. Rice Pilaf with Orzo

Rice Pilaf is a Turkish dish that is well-known for it's unique, aromatic flavor. The fluffy and buttery version of plain rice is a delicious side for any meal. This dish uses long-grain white rice along with a tyle of pasta, orzo. I love adding meat and herbs to this dish, which makes it an amazing main side to an evening meal.

3. Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Chicken Wild Rice Soup is always a mouthwatering dish to pair with any of your meals. In general, it has fantastic flavor and texture. One reason I love this soup is because of the rice added to it. The specific version of rice used is wild rice, and it adds a great texture and a slightly sweet flavor to this soup. This is one of my favorite soups to eat of all time.

4. Mango Sticky Rice

Mango Sticky Rice is an awesome dessert to eat! It originates from Thailand, but it's enjoyed in many other Asian countries. The main components to this simple dessert are coconut milk, mangos, and sticky rice, which makes for a delicious, warm dessert to eat after your meal. It's a lot simpler to make then you'd expect, and the final dessert is a superb rich and creamy flavor.

5. Poke

Poke is a Hawaiian seafood salad that has a very big rice component. Along with that, raw seafood and fresh vegetables help make a refreshing, delicious meal. There are different kinds of rice that can be used, such as brown rice or jasmine rice. The variations of poke that you make depend on your preference of rice, seafood, and vegetables. You can definitely make the poke that you would enjoy!

6. Fried Rice

Fried Rice is a stir-fried Chinese dish bursting with variation and flavor! I learned how to make this simple dish myself at a pretty young age. The rice I usually use is white rice, but other varieties of rice can be used. All you need is some delicious meat (I usually buy sliced ham) and vegetables (I love adding mushrooms and peppers) to find the variation of this dish that you love. I usually make this at home to add more scrambled eggs and soy sauce myself.

7. Cilantro Lime Rice

This dish is a perfect addition to tacos or burritos or just as a side dish. It's amazingly fluffy and fragrant, which makes it a bowl of delicious rice you'll want to eat at any time. While you can use white rice for this dish, it's best to use basmati rice to make the most delicious dish possible. I love adding this type of food to an incomplete meal or use it for my homemade burritos.

All of these rice dishes are a delicious addition to the food you eat! If you're looking for some amazing new meals, sides, or desserts, all of the ones on this list are perfect for you to try!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
