On April 15, the Graduate School of Engineering at University of Tokyo research group under Professor Takao Someya and Dr. Tomoyuki Yokota created "E-Skin." The team made this device in order to enhance and/or restore body functions by integrating electronic devices within the human body.
While a product like this has been around for a few years, E-Skin integrated polymer LEDs in the colors blue, red, and green in order to display things on the skin. With E-Skin, you can have a watch on the back of your hand! E-Skin has the ability to monitor motion, breathing, blood pressure, and body temperature by measuring the absorption of green and red light into the blood in a process called photoplethysmography. Looks like we won't be needing Fitbit anymore!
