The 1975 is one of my favorite bands and I will gladly admit to being a diehard fan, that being said I have been to many concerts and without fail they are one of my favorite musical acts to see live. May 25 marked my third time seeing them live, I bought these most recent tickets ages ago and so my excitement to see them yet again had plenty of time to build. Let me just say they did not disappoint. Not only were they themselves amazing but the opening acts and the entire atmosphere was incredible. From beginning to end I can't find any faults with the concert. The first opener The Japanese House delivered a performance that was above my expectation and I highly recommend giving them a listen. They fit nicely with the whole vibe of the night and I wouldn't say no to seeing them again live. Next up was Wolf Alice, a band I had heard but never gave much thought. My personal opinion was that while they were good and they displayed great talent maybe they weren't the best choice for an opening act, while The Japanese House was more mellow and played similar music to The 1975, Wolf Alice was more rock, they kind of changed up the atmosphere and while that could be a good thing I just didn't vibe with this particular band that night. Finally after much waiting the headliners arrived, opening with their single "Love Me" off of their most recent album, the entire venue enjoyed themselves from the first song to the last. Fortunately, the setlist was 21 songs and not a single song was unwanted. My personal favorites being: "She's American", "Robbers" (a classic), "Loving Someone", and "Somebody Else". Seeing them multiple times has not dulled my experience or enjoyment, every time I am amazed by the connection this band has to their fans and how when they play "Me" not a single phone is in sight (a request by Matty himself), their stage presence is another amazing aspect that adds to the concert, Matty interacts with the entire venue and at one point had grabbed someone's phone and had a conversation with the person on FaceTime.
In all the entire night blew my mind away and I am incredibly glad that one of my favorite bands is so dedicated and tours as often as they do. I have no regrets about standing for 5+ hours and then almost getting lost trying to find my way back to the car, I have gained even more memories to look back on. If you have never heard of this band or have never been to their concert (or a concert in general) I highly recommend checking them out and keeping your eyes peeled for the next time they come to town.
