During college you meet some of your best friends. Unfortunately, not every one of your friends are from the same town or state as you. Everything is fine and dandy while you are at school, but during breaks things begin to get difficult, and emotional for some.
Thanksgiving break is hard, even though it is only for a few days. Christmas break makes you feel absolutely lost without your best friends because they are miles and miles away and you're so used to seeing each other daily, sometimes, hourly. Spring break is wonderful because you go, together, wherever you decide to go. You think Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks are bad, but just wait until summer time. You also think spring break is the best time of your life, but just wait until you get back from summer break.
During the summer, you are away from your best friends for almost three months. The occasional trip to visit is nice, but it still does not amount to seeing each other at least every other day. When August rolls around, you are beyond ready to see your friends, and maybe even some of your enemies, just because it has been so long and such a drastic change. The first time you see your friend you may cry, you may scream or you may even knock them down in the rush to hug. However you reunite, it just feels so good.
Some people do not think breaks are that big of a deal; a lot of people even get excited about breaks. If their experience was anything like mine, they would be sad about breaks only for the reason of separation from the people you spend the most time with. At first, you may not know what to do when you make it back to school because you have not seen them in so long. Some may sit and talk, some may go out and eat, some may go to a movie. No matter what you decide to do, it will be worth it and you will feel like you were never away. You will be able to pick up right where you left off, and you will not have to be away from each other for another couple of months. Ah, being reunited with your friends feels good!
