Are you a Penn State student sick of eating the same food at the Hub, Findlay, and the other dining commons? I know I was. So, here are some of my favorite alternative restaurants that surround Penn State!

1. Inferno Pizza

340 E College Ave, State College, PA

Coming from Northern Jersey it's been hard for me to find a pizza place as good as the pizza back home. However, Inferno proved me wrong. Go listen to Inferno's live jazz every Sunday from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM and enjoy a delicious slice of their pizza.

2. Cozy Thai

232 South Allen St, State College, PA

Some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had!! Cozy Thai is good for birthday dinners and going out to dinner with friends and family!

3. Cafe Laura

201 Mateer Building, University Park, PA

Cafe Laura is a student-run restaurant! Although it is on Penn State's campus, it doesn't feel like it is when you're sitting in their beautifully designed dining room. The best part about Cafe Laura is they accept meal points!

4. Sakura Sushi and Asian Cuisine

1525 S Atherton St, State College, PA

Whether you're in the mood for sushi or sesame chicken, Sakura has all the asian food you could ask for. Their quick service and exquisite cuisine makes Sakura great for a sushi night!

5. The Naked Egg

320 Pine Grove Rd, State College, PA

Some of the best homemade breakfast in State College! I say it's even better than the Waffle Shop!

6. Big Bowl Noodle House

418 East College Ave, State College, PA

Some of the best miso soup I've ever had!

7. Sowers Harvest Cafe

421 East Beaver Ave, State College, PA

This Amish cafe has some of the best homemade food in State College. They have breakfast and lunch! Their homemade drinks and freshly made breakfast sandwiches will make your day!

8. Tadashi

206 W College Ave, State College, PA

By far some of the best sushi I've eaten in State College, PA! Their signature Angry Dragon Roll is served on fire! Their special Ramen Bowls is some of the best soup I've ever had.

9. The Field

1 Country Club Lane, State College, PA

The Field is a classic "go to" restaurant that every PSU student should try before they graduate. Their signature burgers, chips, and milkshakes are what make The Field special. The Field is located at the Toftrees Country Club, so it's great for a birthday dinner!

10. Barrel 21

2255 N Atherton St, State College, PA

By far the best restaurant in State College, PA! Their high end menu and classy atmosphere makes Barrel 21 a great place for when the family visits.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
