Every college town has those certain bars, restaurants, cafes, ice cream places and coffee joints where students have to visit before they graduate. Butler University isn't in a college town, like Bloomington or Lafayette, but there are still certain places almost every Butler student holds near and dear to their heart. The establishments listed below are on the "Butler Bucket List" for places to eat, drink and love before you graduate.

Restaurants

1. Luciana's, La Piedad, Yats and Bazbeaux

These are the classic sit-down restaurants that Butler students all go to at least once. They're cheap, interesting and delicious. Luciana's and La Piedad are Mexican places, the former known for their margaritas. Yats has amazing Cajun and Creole food, and Bazbeaux is a classic pizza place.

2. Cake Bake Shop, Brics, Insomnia and Flying Cupcake

These are the classic dessert places! They all serve different types of goodies. The Cake Bake Shop serves delicious, fancy cakes. Brics is the Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station. Insomnia delivers cookies at all hours of the night, and I think you know what the Flying Cupcake serves up.

3. Patachou, Good Morning Mama's and Three Sisters Cafe

The brunch culture in Indianapolis is very strong, and no one loves it more than college students. Good Morning Mama's and Three Sisters Cafe are eclectic and kitschy. Patachou is part of an Indy chain, and it is seriously delicious.

4. Metro Diner and Scotty's Dawghouse

These two are new additions to the Indy food scene, so they're not old favorites with students. They're the only restaurants on campus, so they're sure to be treasured student faves in no time.

5. Chipotle, Jimmy John's, HotBox and Taco Bell

Yes, these are all chain restaurants found basically everywhere in America and not just around Butler, but they happen to be the chains most popular with Butler students. Everyone goes to these restaurants at least 36 times each during their years at Butler.

Bars

6. Brothers

There are so, so, sooooo many bars in the Broad Ripple area that it can be hard to choose. But Brothers is always fun, it's big enough to always have space and sometimes their Long Islands are only $5. What more could you ask for?

7. The Sinking Ship

Coffee Places

8. Starbucks and Hubbard and Cravens

Hubbard & Cravens is a classic coffee place: comfy chairs, a studious, aesthetic environment and delicious drinks. It's the nearest coffee shop that's not Starbucks.

Whether you're just now starting your time at Butler, halfway through or graduating in May, make sure you visit all of the places on this list before you leave. You need to make the most of your time in Indianapolis while it lasts!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
