My Rescue Pup

Here's my story about my rescue pet and how she has impacted our lives.

My Rescue Pup

Every person has their own reservations about adopting a pet from a shelter, so here's my personal story about my rescue pup to hopefully shed light on such an amazing being:

When Tuesday was found in January of 2011 she was dumped in an abandon car on a lot with no food or water, by the time she was found she was frost bitten and missing patches of fur due to this. They also suspect that she was abused and used for back yard breeding, they probably dumped her when she could not produce good enough puppies. But you would think this would kill her love of people.

Walking into the shelter we were not expecting to fall in love with a dog, but we did. We were walking through the area with dog kennels and this one little black pup caught our eye. She made herself known by jumping above the cemented wall into our line of vision to get our attention. I think she actually chose us. We decided to take her on a walk and then my uncle decided that she was the dog for him. Although when we met her she was fearful of men especially those on the larger side so we had to get her acquainted with her new dad, but she adored him nonetheless.

We adopted her when i was in the eighth grade ut now as a sophomore in college i had to live off-campus this year, it is tough but nothing ever cured my thoughts like a late night walk with my pup around the park. She's the greatest hiking partner, she will make sure I make it to the top of the hill even if she's pulling me the entire way. During the summer you will find us skateboarding about while she pulls me because my Tuesday is bold. There is nothing more that she loves than to run freely after a toy or even me. We find secluded areas that is safe for her with no other dogs so she can be herself and get the exercise she needs.

like any dog anywhere she has her issues. hers is that she doesn't quite get along with other dogs. so we need to take the extra precaution while on walks to make sure she is not overwhelmed. This does not mean that she is vicious or dangerous it just means that she needs her space and is also protective of her family, which comes in handy when we go on late night walks. She keeps me safe. Despite this she is an amazing companion. She loves our cat, and really believes that she is a lap dog even though she's a bit heavy.

My Tuesday is getting up there in her years but I have to say, there is no better being on this planet that gets me like my dog. When I feel lonely she's right there. when I'm eating a sandwich she's always right there. Without her I wouldn't know how it feels to have a heart so full of love and adoration for something that can't even speak the same language. She teaches me more and more about the world everyday even though in the beginning it was so cruel to her. She watches over my dad faithfully while I'm gone and even let's us use her as a pillow when we had a long day. I don't know who rescued who but I'm glad it happened, life would not be the same with out my goofy girl there.

I highly recommend adopting a shelter pet, "you get more bang for your buck". They come spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccination, and most of all there's no secrets. The staff are very straight forward with anything having to do with the animal. They want to find the animals their forever home to live out the rest their lives. They have no worry for over charging a dog.

You can have put a price on a dog but you can't put a price on the amount of love they give.

Please like and share a story of your shelter pet to help show how amazing they actually are!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
