5 Moments From Taylor's Reputation Tour That Solidified My Love For Her

In This Article:

This summer I went to Taylor Swift's sold out Reputation Tour. My life was changed forever. Please read just a little bit of my likes and dislikes from 5 of the songs she performed.

1. "...Ready for It?"

The beat... dun dun dun and incomes Taylor's voice,"Ah!"

This song pulls you in and gets you so hyped for the rest of the concert.

Taylor says, "Baby, let the games begin, let the games begin" over and over as if she was speaking directly to the listener. This haunting effect preps you for what is about to come. She ends the song with the line, "Are you ready for it?" Although this is the song's title this is asking the audience if we know what we just got ourselves into.

The Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour! This sold-out show was about 2 hours long and featured all of her hits. Iconic songs from her older albums, the Reputation album, amazing video effects, and amazing light effects.

Long story short, I wasn't "ready for it," but I am so glad I witnessed the goddess that is Taylor Swift.

2. "I Did Something Bad."

This song emphasizes Taylor's new image as a bad girl. She's supposedly done with all of the good girl songs she had before. Songs like "You Belong With Me" and "Our Song," also played at the concert, emphasize Taylor's romantic side and also demonstrates a more country writing style.

"They say I did something bad, so why does it feel so good?" This new era shows that Taylor Swift is more than just a girl who has many boyfriends. She actually is a beam of light for feminism. Her new album accepts that she is shamed for dating multiple people, and empowers her.

Why should she feel ashamed for dating somebody?

(This is also such a good song to just dance to!)

3. "Gorgeous."

This song furthers her role as a feminist. Often times, women are shamed for having sex, dating or kissing other men, it isn't often we see a female artist force a man to take accountability for his actions.

She says, "you should think about the consequence of touching my hand in a darkened room." Hold on. She's able to give herself to another person AND be strong and intelligent?? 100%

This is the very message Taylor Swift has been trying to (and successfully) sending from her platform in recent years.

4. "Style/Love Story/ You Belong With Me."

This is the audio recording from her Cleveland show.

This 3 songs she performed together are about love and the old Taylor. She has a guitar during this part of the performance to pay homage to her roots. She shows us that she hasn't forgotten where she came from, where she started, and she hasn't lost sight of where she is going.

She is iconic for blending these 3 different eras of music into one <10 minute performance.

As soon as "Love Story" begins, it takes you back to your childhood. Country-pop Taylor used to play softly on the radio as we drove through our small town, and it felt like nothing could touch us. Taylor takes me back to that part of my life, before any of the things that matter now were so important.

5. "Look What You Made Me Do."

And Taylor takes it back to being empowering to everybody. This song came out in my first semester of college so this song holds significance in my first experiences making friends on campus. I felt empowered making friends at school in a new city with new people, all because of a Taylor Swift song.

If you haven't already listened to Taylor Swift's album "Reputation," make sure you listen on your favorite streaming service and don't forget to stream the Reputation Tour on Netflix.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
