Congrats on making a resolution! As we head into the second month of the year actually keep it with some great music!
According to a study at Brunel University, you can increase your endurance by 15% by listening to music while you workout. So keeping with the 15 theme, here are 15 songs to kick off that 2015 resolution:
All About it (ft. Ed Sheeran) – Hoodie Allen
This song combines the upbeat, college rap style of Hoodie Allen with Ed Sheeran’s recent shift toward quicker lyrics and beats. The two come together surprisingly well in this catchy tune off of Hoodie Allen’s newest ablum “People Keep Talking”
WARNING: The chorus will be stuck in your head all day.
The Heart Wants What It Wants – Selena Gomez
I love me some Selena. The steady beat in this track will keep you on pace during your workout. It may also make you want to get down on the trail/track/sidewalk/gym.Â
Love Me Like You Do (MVMMALS Remix) – Ellie Goulding
When I first heard Ellie Goulding’s song for “50 Shades of Grey” I listened to it for maybe two days straight. Then I heard this remix and I freaked. It keeps Goulding’s vocals just as beautiful as they are on the original (seriously how does she hit those notes?) but adds in a stronger bass and some kick-ass drops. If you want to really boost that resolution, up your intensity when the beat drops.
Turn Off the Light (K Theory Remix) – Nelly Furtado
Similarly to the Ellie Goulding remixes, K Theory keeps the dancey vibe in the Nelly Furtado’s original song, but adding a new, stronger electronic beat with some drops in the middle. Pretty much, it’s a solid remix of a classic song and I’m personally obsessed. It's exactly what you need to push yourself through a slump during your workout.
Settle Down (Young Ruffian Remix) – The 1975
As a big fan of The 1975, I was skeptical of this remix at first. But they did something here that makes me listen to it again…and again…and again. So go listen for yourself.
Gold (Snakehips Bootleg) – Bondax
This song is a solid jam with enough dancey beats to make you actually smile while trying not to collapse on the side of the running trail or middle of the gym. So flash your smile at everyone you're people-watching  and keep going.
Ribs (Ryan Hemsworth Remix) – Lorde
In case you haven’t realized, I’m a sucker for a good remix with a solid drop. To be honest any of Lorde’s original songs are also great to run to but this remix is one of my favorites.
Treat Me Right – Keys N Krates
This song will make you want to bounce around. Shake your ass and dance around the room. But since you can’t really sing at all this song, use the energy from the faster beat to speed up!
Trouble On My Mind (ft. Tyler, the Creator) – Pusha T
This slower Hip-Hop beat will help you bring your pace back down and feel like a total badass. The lyrics are a tad explicit, but I am addicted to Tyler, the Creator’s voice. This song is the equivalent of wearing a black leather jacket, heels and red lipstick.
Begging For Thread – Banks
I’m obsessed with Banks. Her vocals and lyrics are incredible and she’s just as amazing live. She oozes cool. Soak it up.
Cupid’s Chokehold (Vaux & Rivera X Taylor Wise Remix) – Gym Class Heroes
Classic song + simple remix = yes, done, I love it. You can also jam with the original and still feel fab.
Dirt Off Your Shoulder (Brillz & Z Trip Remix) – Jay-Z
Once again the original is great, the remix adds a new level of badassery to one of the best pump up songs ever. It’s the Hip-Hop version of “Shake it Off” so how could you not love it? Also, props for gender equality because everyone can be a pimp.
Diva – Beyoncé
You can’t have Jay-Z without his Queen B. Almost any Bey song is amazing and will make you want to sing but this one is my favorite for running because it has the toughness of Jay, with the femininity of Bey.
Snow (Hey Oh) – Red Hot Chili Peppers
An oldie but a goodie, “Snow” has one of the most iconic guitar riffs and it never gets old.
Hold My Hand - Jess Glynne
Jess Glynne has been all over my SoundCloud and I once I heard this song I knew why. I wanted to dance, sing, and drive with the top of my imaginary convertible down. Also I have to respect her killer eyeliner game on her album cover.
So lace up your shoes, plug in your headphones and run headfirst into 2015.
