Reminiscing My First Semester At the “Zou”
Morgan Drew Cunnyngham

Finals week has come and gone which is an AMAZING feeling but it is also depressing. That means that fall semester of school is done and my sophomore year of college is halfway over with. So here are some good memories that I have experienced throughout this fall semester.

The first impactful memory was Tiger Walk. When I ran through the columns to symbolize my entrance at Mizzou. It’s a tradition and one that I was able to experience with my sister, Cassidy, who also walked with me even though she is a senior. Then getting Tiger Stripe ice cream afterwards was the perfect ending to that tradition.

Then of course you have all of the football games that I got to experience and cheer on my Mizzou Tigers! From the many times where my voice was raw from screaming, all the sweat and weird tan lines, and to the coat and glove games.

To all of the times where I have pulled 12 straight hours in the studio creating and finishing my architecture projects and assignments. That basement studio room where I have experienced many breakdowns, cry sessions, and watched strangers turn into some of my closest friends. Thank you Austin, Olivia, Amy, and Braydon you all mean the world to me! Don’t want to do life without you all!

Shout out to Emporium Café which is open late so when I get out of the studio or I don’t want to be social for the day I can just go there and order lunch/dinner and take it back to my room to eat.

For finally having a 100 day streak on snapchat with two of my very best friends Jake and Rachel, love you guys!

My mom is about to cringe when she reads this one but I only missed my 8am class three times the whole semester! By the way it was a solid 17 min walk from my dorm room and I had great reasons to skip each time, LOL.

Going to The Well on Wednesday nights and knowing that no matter what I had going on that week there was always time to praise Jesus and fall in love with him.

All of the conversations, text messages, and snapchats that I have received from my sister even though she is just two blocks away from me on campus and most of the time I just left her place.

There has been so many more memories but these are just a few that really stood out to me. I am so thankful for my fall semester at Mizzou. All the people I have meet, experiences that I have experienced, and how much I have grown as a person.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
