It’s that time of year again; when we jump headfirst back into reality, when summer adventures become photos hidden away in the archives of our camera rolls, when we return to the familiarity of places and people we love, or when we embark on new adventures for the first time. We leave behind friends and moments we cherish as we simultaneously greet those which promise to be legendary. Regardless of the stories we’re leaving behind and the unwritten ones we’re approaching, it’s safe to say emotions are high in these weeks leading up to the beginning of the semester.
But for some of us, the feelings don’t stop there. If you get excited about the little things or shed a tear at almost anything, I hope you can relate to some of the following behaviors of people who uninhibitedly express emotion. So to all my girls who live in a constant state of heartfelt sappiness, this one’s for you.
If you’re sappy and you know it, chances are...
- You talk in pitches only dogs can hear when you see your best friends for the first time since last year.
- You would genuinely enjoy watching The "Notebook" for 1000th time.
- It’s not unusual for you to say the word “Awwww” in unison with your friends.
- Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” still gets to you.
- If someone asks why you’re crying one more time, you're... probably going to cry.
- Your Instagram caption at major tourist attractions is about how much you love the person standing next to you.
- Your friends cover your eyes at the end of Marley & Me.
- Waterproof mascara isn’t an option. We won’t talk about the days you have to go to plan B…
- You know the importance of having Puffs tissues instead of a generic brand.
- You’ve cried to Taylor Swift’s “Back to December” whether you can relate or not.
- There is no such thing as too many hugs.
- You have no trouble understanding what is meant by the term "ugly cry."
- This kills you:
- Quotes like “It’s not goodbye, it’s ‘see you later’” or “Reunited and it feels so good” can be found in maybe 75 percent of your Instagram captions.
- “Goodbye” is definitely the hardest word in the English language to say.
- You live life to the freakin’ fullest, so keep bringing the sap. The world could use a few more people who aren't afraid of authenticity.
