Music has a way of speaking to people.

It allows us to reflect on our lives and realize many things. Different types of music convey different things to an audience. My favorite kind of music is country music.

Being from Georgia, I was raised listening to country music. It's something I have always enjoyed listening to and it is something I have a huge heart for. There are several country songs I love, but I have picked five that describe my life.

1. Southern Girl — Tim McGraw

This classic country song talks about, well, southern girls. I've lived in the south my entire life and I am a true southerner.

The verse that stands out to me is, "A southern girl's momma probably taught her how a lady should act."

My mom was very involved in my life and definitely taught me how to act. Although she is from the North, she taught me the basics of how to be the ideal southern woman.

2. Unanswered Prayers — Garth Brooks

Growing up, I learned that in times of need, to turn to the Lord and pray. Often times, I would pray and ask God for things and I would not get what I prayed for.

The chorus of this song says, "Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers. Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs. That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care. Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."

This song makes me truly understand that not everything I want is what I truly need. This song allows me to reflect on my life and appreciate those unanswered prayers.

3. I'm in a Hurry — Alabama

Often times, especially in today's day and age, life is very fast paced and rushed. This song sums up my crazy, busy college lifestyle. I feel like I do not have enough time in the day to get everything done I need to get done.

This feeling of being in a rushed lifestyle is not fun, and I truly don't know why I'm in a hurry.

4. Me and You — Kenny Chesney

My most vivid memory from when I was little was my parents blaming this song singing together on long car rides to see family in Philadelphia. For me, this song depicts what I want in a future spouse. Because of that, this is the song I want to dance to for my first dance at my wedding.

5. Better Than I Used To Be — Tim McGraw

This song is one that sums up my life perfectly. Life is full of ups and downs and at the end of the day, its all about becoming the best person you can be. This song talks about how it's okay to have messed up, as long as you're striving to be a better person.

Sometimes all it takes is a little faith in someone to see the good in them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
