Regrets College Students Have About Leaving Their Younger Siblings At Home

It may not seem like it at times, but we truly do miss you

Moving away to college definitely shows you what's important to keep in your life and what isn't. Family is one think you can't get rid of, but we often don't realize how important our family is until we're not constantly with them. That is even more relevant when it comes to siblings.

After all, they're the one(s) you spent your whole childhood fighting, playing board games, and watching Disney movies at 3 am with. Once you can't do these things anymore, you realize how important your siblings are. Being away from home comes with many regrets of being away from your sibling(s).

1. I don't get to be the buffer between you and mom and dad.

Not that you need this all of the time, but it's always nice to have backup when you need it.

2. I can't help you with your homework in person.

Because most of the time helping you over the phone doesn't "help" at all.

3. I miss your formals and/or proms because work and school are overwhelming.

I really do wish I could be there for these moments because you only get a handful of these in your life. But, I've experienced these myself, so I can still share my knowledge with you.

4. I miss out on watching our favorite childhood Disney movies together when they're on at the obscene hour of 3 a.m.

"The Thirteenth Year," "Motocross," and "The Luck of the Irish" aren't the same without you.

5. We can't fight for the cat's attention.

Even though you're there with her 24/7, she still has a special place in my heart.

6. I don't get to laugh at you when the same cat scratches you because she didn't want to be held.

Let's face it. She doesn't really like either of us.

7. But most of all, I miss seeing you grow up just like you watched me grow up.

This is my biggest regret of all because I'm missing all of this. Watching you grow up makes me feel old, but it's also really rewarding. Seeing you have the personality traits that I have and using the advice I've given you over the years has been amazing.

Not being at home during college is hard, but it usually has to be that way. We want to go home more than we can to spend time with our siblings because we miss them more than we admit. Getting into mischief when you were kids is in the past as we both grow up into the people we're meant to be, but that doesn't mean that there aren't more memories to be made.

I apologize for missing out on these, but it'll all be worth it in the end.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
