When my mom told me about Reconstructing Amelia, I just thought it was another book. She said there would be parts I wouldn't see coming. As I was reading, I thought I knew what was going to happen. Usually I'm pretty good about figuring mysteries out, but not this time. The the plot twists kept coming and with each one, I said to myself, now I know what happened. In my head I figured it out, but I wasn't done with the book. I truly never pictured who would be behind some things and what would end up happening.
It truly was a book I'll never forget. Kimberly McCreight leaves you wanting more, craving more. With each new chapter and secret unraveling, I clung to each and every word. I couldn't read it fast enough. If you read any book this summer, this is the one to read. I've read hundreds of books, but by far Reconstructing Amelia is my favorite. There are no words to describe how hooked I was.
Reconstructing Amelia reminded me that things are never how they seem. We think we know everything about people, but there is so much we don't know. Underneath each and every one of us is so much more. We choose to reveal how much or how little of ourselves to everyone we come across. Some people know more than others. Some people only know superficial things. But some know our deepest, darkest secrets.
What you choose to do with the knowledge of people is your choice. By revealing secrets, just know you're not only betraying trust of the person, but also exposing their secrets to the cruel world. Words hurt AND have meaning. Just look at Reconstructing Amelia or "13 Reasons Why" or the Michelle Carter case. Your words can have a real effect on people. You never know what's really going on with even your closest friends. You can't take back your words, so make sure you choose them wisely.
