Reasons Why You Should Own A Dog

Reasons Why You Should Own A Dog

I am a self proclaimed ambassador for owning a dog. My whole 19 years, I've had a furry best friend right by my side and there is no other way I'd rather it be. How can you not be a livelier and happier human being with a dog? The list goes on and on, on why you should take in a puppy or dog, but here are a few to start you off:

1. They genuinely help improve your day and even life

Coming home after a stressful few weeks of school, seeing my puppy instantly lightens my mood. Spending time with your four legged friend has been known to reduce stress, and help you feel relaxed and happy.

2. They protect you

Barking is the number one way they do. They will sit on the chair that looks out to your front yard and be your guard dog, wether you like it or not.

3. They inspire you to be healthier

Right when you put your tennis shoes on, your pup will instantly think they're going "bye-bye" to the dog park. They LOVE to go for walks, runs, or even rollerblading which means you LOVE to go for walks, runs, and rollerblading.

4. There is never a dull moment

For me, Jude (my dog) loves to bark. She doesn't like anyone to talk - besides her of course! They love attention and it's so easy to give into them and put off that paper and just snuggle with your best furry friend. Especially puppies, they're so playful and they have the cutest little puppy bellies.

5. They offer unconditional love

No boyfriend or girlfriend will love you more than your puppy (and parents.) You've given them the best thing a person can give, love and affection. YOU chose them, YOU feed them everyday, YOU rub their bellies and itch their ears. I am a true believer that they can tell when you're sad, and they know exactly what to do to make you one happy owner.

6. They help you develop a softer side

You will develop as what I call, a "puppy lover" voice. Your voice instantly goes to this high pitch tone that you didn't even know existed. It's almost the only way to talk to your dog -unless they're being naughty.

"OHH...look at the little puppy ears and the little puppy belly". Trust me people, it's a thing.

7. And they're just so cute

You know you want one.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
