One of the most watched horror-fiction/action series of the 21st century. It follows the thrilling adventures of Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers who fight evil in the world. Supernatural, from its hilarious moments to its plot-twisting scenes, has been running on CW since 2005. For those of you who are Supernatural fanatics like myself, you’ve watched these two dreamy boys age for a long time now. New episodes for season eleven have been showing on Wednesday nights and yes, a lot of them do seem like filler episodes. On that note, I would just like to remind you of why you love Supernatural! And for those of you who haven’t watched it, I hope this gives you a reason to start. It’s on Netflix!
Season 3 Episode 3: Bad Day at Black Rock
Because of a lucky rabbit foot, Dean was able to save his brother with just a flick of the wrist and a remote controller. After that moment, he declares himself Batman and of course, with gratitude, Sam had to agree!
Season 5 Episode 11: Interrupted
Sam and Dean Winchester are investigating a case at a Psychiatric ward where in order to get in undetected, they dressed up in the casual wear of the patients at that facility. They were in a room where they shouldn’t have been and were caught by one of the nurses. Out of panic (or maybe because he just wanted to), Dean dropped his pants and started wiggling around saying “pudding!” It worked.
Season 4 Episode 6: Yellow Fever
Sam and Dean pretending to be FBI agents, investigate a death in which a perfectly healthy, young man dies of a heart attack. Later on they determine that it was ghost sickness and then Dean becomes sick. Throughout most of the episode, Dean has intense fear and paranoia and gets freaked out by cute puppies and kittens. Sam hunts for a cure (but I can’t spoil the rest so if you haven’t seen it, watch it).
Season 4 Episode 6: Yellow Fever (After the episode)
The producers allowed Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) to sing and dance to “Eye of the Tiger” and decided to conclude the episode on that note. Very hilarious! If you don’t intend to watch all the many seasons of Supernatural, I do suggest to at least watch this episode and Jenson’s lip-singing, music video at the end!
Season 3 Episode 12: Jus in Bello
The handful of people that made it safely cannot explain what is happening to their town. Black smoke is possessing individuals left and right making them kill one another. Sam and Dean know what this is: Demons. A police member was torn up because he had to shoot the sheriff. Dean’s not-so-sympathetic response was “but you didn’t shoot no deputy” from the song “I shot the sheriff” by Bob Marley.
Season 2 Episode 19: Folsom Prison Blues
The boys get themselves in jail so that they can investigate a problem occurring inside. During mug shots, Dean proclaims that he “calls this one the Blue Steel” (in case you don’t know, the Blue Steel was the name of a modeling pose belonging to the really ridiculously handsome Derek in the movie Zoolander).
Season 6 Episode 10: Caged Heat
In this episode, Castiel (an angel) is still very much not aware of the ways in how humans act and think. He is still the stiff, literal Castiel from when he was first introduced. While Sam and Dean are researching for solutions to “fix Sam,” Castiel is watching TV. Being he is very alien to Earth, he questions “If the pizza man truly loves this babysitter, why does he keep slapping her rear?” And then concludes “perhaps she has done something wrong,” then Dean snaps at him that he “shouldn’t watch porn in a room full of dudes."
Season 3 Episode 13: Ghostfacers
Ghostfacers Sam and Dean are always helping save lives throughout the series but they always seem to run back into some paranormal investigators with the name “Ghostfacers.” This is a group of nerdy “wanna be” ghost hunters that don’t know the first thing about hunting ghosts. The boys, luckily, were able to come to the rescue of the ghost facers b4 the whole crew died. There was only one way for them to get out alive. “Ed... You got to go be gay for that poor, dead intern. You got to send him into the light.”
Season 7 Episode 18: Party on, Garth
I’m sure when we were all young we “accidentally” took some grown up juice to see what it was mommy and daddy were drinking at those family get together. Well that’s what a little girl did in this episode and it turned out to be a blessing. Now that were older, I’m sure some of those reading this have acquired the same taste our parents have for that grown up juice. Now just imagine if the only way to fight the thing trying to kill you was to get wasted...
Season 6 Episode 15: The French Mistake
For those who haven’t seen supernatural, the writer/director/producer of the show is named Bob Singer and sure enough, one of the most important characters in the series is named Bobby Singer. Try to recall how many shows you’ve seen where this happens. Not many. Now try to recall just how many shows have made an episode that actually takes you behind the scenes of the whole stage setup, cast, and crew to make the show work. Not only do we get to see this, everyone is called by their real life name (E.g. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) which makes for quite a crazy episode trying to distinguish real life from the show.
There are so many other great episodes that I wasn’t able to put into this article that I strongly encourage you to go find out for yourself. I promise you won’t be disappointed. And for those die hard supernatural fans out there just like me, I hope this brings back some of the great memories this show has left behind for us.
