Who hasn't heard about the latest health craze, veganism? If you didn't know already, a vegan is someone who doesn't eat or use any animal products. Now, I'm not here to knock veganism because, honestly, it's admirable that they are able to do that. But I have a list on why I could never be a vegan.
1. BACON.
I could never give up my favorite part of a pig.
2. Finger nail polish is out.
Most nail polish is made out of the scales of fish to get the shine that girls, like me, crave.
3. No more fireworks.
Say goodbye to those festive nights like July 4 and New Year's.
4. Cheeseburgers.
Who wants to give up those glorious American classics?
5. Most toothpastes are not vegan- friendly.
Most people don't realize that toothpaste has animal fat, but there are some vegan-friendly toothpastes; however, they're slightly more expensive. For a girl on a college budget, I have to buy the cheapest toothpaste I can find.
6. Camera and Polaroid film are also out.
Film for cameras and Polaroids contain a binding element that comes from bone gelatin, but my Polaroid addiction has to be fed.
7. Computers contain animal products.
The computer that I am typing on has stearic acid in the rubber and plastic parts so that it doesn't get over heated. If you own a Mac or Apple product, they are vegan friendly as possible thanks to Steve Jobs being a huge animal rights activist!
8. (Probably the most important) PIZZA.
Who would want to live in a world without Hawaiian pizza?
These are just a few of the things that you would have to give up if you went vegan. Personally, these are the things I could not live without. Veganism might be the latest craze (even Beyonce tried it for 22 days), but I wouldn't be able to last 12 hours without ending up on the floor cradling some fried chicken.
