By now, you probably have heard the song "Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the song to death. However, it’s gotten so big that frankly it’s over played. It has become everyone’s go-to TOP song and has become the anthem of finals weeks everywhere! Here’s a list of Twenty One Pilots songs that you have to listen to besides "Stressed Out" (in order of album).
Self-Titled (2009)
1. "Isle of Flightless Birds"
"We pick songs to sing, remind us of things that nobody cares about/And honestly we're probably more suicidal than ever now."
2. "Fall Away"
"I'm dying and I'm trying/But believe me I'm fine/But I'm lying/I'm so very far from fine."
The rap in this song is just completely flawless. If you really want to challenge your rapping abilities this one is a good one to do that with.
3. "Addict with a Pen"
"But I try my best/And all that I can to/Hold tightly on to/What's left in my hand/But no matter how/How tightly I will strain/The sand will slow me down/And the water will drain."
4. "Taxi Cab"
"Sometimes we will die and sometimes we will fly away/Either way you're by my side until my dying days."
5. "The Pantaloon"
"It's warmer in the morning/Than what it is at night/Your bones are held together/By your nightmares and your frights."
Regional At Best (2011)
6. "Glowing Eyes"
"This room is far too dark for us to stay around/Redemption's not that far and darkness is going down."
7. "Kitchen Sink"
"No one else is dealing with your demons/Meaning maybe defeating them/Could be the beginning of your meaning, friend."
This song is where the logo for Twenty One Pilots came from (|-/). Tyler says that a kitchen sink means something to him because he made it mean something to him, just like the symbol. We should make it, or anything else for that matter, mean something to us.
Vessel (2013)
8. "Ode To Sleep"
"I'll stay awake/Cause the dark's not taking prisoners tonight."
9. "Holding on to You"
"Fight it/Take the pain, ignite it/Tie a noose around your mind/Loose enough to breathe fine and tie it/To a tree. Tell it, 'You belong to me/This ain't a noose, this is a leash/And I have news for you: you must obey me.'"
The choreography in this video makes me want to get up and interpretive dance, except it would look nothing like the video.
10. "Car Radio"
"I'm forced to deal with what I feel/There is not distraction to mask what is real/I could pull the steering wheel."
You should really just watch this for the sake of Tyler shaving his head. That is art.
11. "Migraine"
"I know that I can fight or I can let the lion win/I begin to assemble what weapons I can find/Cause sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind."
12. "Screen"
"While you're doing fine, there's some people and I/Who have a really tough time getting through this life/So excuse us while we sing to the sky."
Being surrounded by hundreds of people all yelling the lyric "we're broken people" at a concert is the most amazing moment you could experience.
13."Fake You Out"
"Before you walk away, there's one more thing I want to say/Our brains are sick but that's OK."
14. "Truce"
"The sun will rise and we will try again."
15. "Trees"
"Why won't you speak/Where I happen to be?/Silent in the trees/Standing cowardly."
16. "House of Gold"
"I will make you queen of everything you see/I'll put you on the map/I'll cure you of disease."
Blurryface (2015)
17. "We Don't Believe What's On TV"
"I don't care what's in your hair/I just want to know what's on your mind."
The trumpet line in this song is enough to get anyone to learn that god awful instrument.
18. "Goner" (all versions of it)
"Though I'm weak and beaten down/I'll slip away into this sound/The ghost of you is close to me/I'm inside-out, you're underneath."
There are many different versions to Goner. It first appears on Tyler Joseph's album No Phun Intended and has transformed over the albums. I suggest listening to the first version and making your way to this one.
19. "The Judge"
"I'm a pro at imperfections and I'm best friends with my doubt/And now that my mind's out, and now I hear it clear and loud/I'm thinking, 'Wow, I probably shoulda stayed inside my house.'"
20. "Fairly Local"
"The world around us is burning but we're so cold/It's the few, the proud and the emotional."
This song is basically the theme song for the Skeleton Clique (the Twenty One Pilots fanbase). The line "the few, the proud and the emotional" means more to us than people think.
21. "Polarize"
"Polarize is taking your disguises/Separating them, splitting them up from wrong and right/It's deciding where to die and deciding where to fight/Deny, deny, denial."
22. "Hometown"
"My shadow tilts its head at me/Spirits in the dark are waiting/I will let the wind go quietly."
23. "Ride"
"Pieces of peace in the sun's peace of mind/I know it's hard sometimes."
Bonus
24. "Can't Help Falling in Love" (Elvis cover)
"Take my hand, take my whole life too/Cause I can't help falling in love with you."
Now go listen and bask in the glory that is Twenty One Pilots. And if you can, go to a concert because they perform in the crowd like this:
And that's pretty cool. |-/
