4 Reasons Not To Stress About School

Cs get degrees, right?

As we start back to school everyone around me, including myself, is stressing themselves out for no reason. So here are four reasons that you need to chill out and not stress yourself about school.

1. We just started back

Come on guys, we literally just started back into this, there is no need for you to panic. Of course your classes are going to seem overwhelming, we just got back from a month-long break. We have been sitting at home watching Netflix and doing nothing, school is like a foreign concept to us right now. So give yourself some time to get readjusted before you hit the freak out button, okay?

2. School isn't life or death

Sure, school is a really important part of getting an education and a good job but this isn't a life or death situation. Don't kill yourself over every detail and every grade, Cs get degrees right? I am NOT saying that you shouldn't care about your grades or your school work, but if you stress over every. little. thing. then you are going to drive yourself insane. Don't do that to yourself.

3. So what if you fail?

Like I said earlier, this is not a life or death situation and it's not the end of the world either. So what does it matter if you fail? Just take the class again next semester. If anything it will help you do better next time having already seen the material and knowing more about it than you did the first time.

Or this might be the wake up call you need to know that you should change your major. Or drop out if you really want to, I would rather you not, but maybe school isn't for you. Maybe you should go to trade school or find a technical program; find something to fit your life better. Failing isn't going to be the end of your life.

4. It will be worth it

Eventually you will be done with school. Eventually you will never have to purchase another textbook. Eventually you will never have to go to another advising meeting or sit in a cold classroom in an uncomfortable chair. Eventually you will be free of the university. But after we are done we will have something that is invaluable.

We will have what we need to get a good job and provide for ourselves and maybe a future family. We will have what we need to go forth into the world and become who we are supposed to be. All the tests and the late night cramming sessions and the crappy food and stress and anxiety...everything will all be worth it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
