10 reasons why my dog is the literal best

We all think our pupper is the best. From Great Danes to Yorkies, every dog has their unique qualities that make their owners basically worship the ground their paws walk on. Here are 10 pieces of evidence for the perfection of my dog, Ms. Nellie McNamara.

1. Her breed is a mystery.

We got Nellie as a puppy and were told she was a lab-boxer mix. There is definitely lab, but she's about four sizes too small to be that combo. One day she just stopped growing and we were like "That's it?"

2. She gets so excited when you come home.

Sally McNamara

I know no human will ever give me that reaction when I return home. She sits, vibrating, with her feet bouncing, as she waits patiently for you to pet her. She then will do this weird thing where she squeezes through your legs back-and-forth multiple times.

3. She puts up with my family.

We are weird as shit. As a 21-year-old, my sister seriously bought a Valentine's Day-themed dress for Nellie. Needless to say, Nell wore it with horror. To add on to her embarrassment, I often will grab her front paws, placing her in a standing position and dance with her to "Once Upon A Dream" from Sleeping Beauty

4. Her best friend is our neighbor, Lincoln, a huge Collie.

It is such a pure and beautiful friendship.

5. She wears her personalized Notre Dame jersey with pride.

GO IRISH.

6. Like my father, her favorite snack is pretzels.

She officially knows the sounds of the pretzel bagand will sit and whine while my dad eats his pretzels on the couch, both knowing that eventually he will "accidentally" drop one.

7. She has a very disproportionate body.

She is kind of an odd looking dog. Her head is slightly too small for her body and it's perfection.

8. She sleeps with me every night.

Sally McNamara

Although, she really has no choice in the matter.

9. She is a sassy queen who does what she wants.

Sally McNamara

My mom will say she can be a brat, but she just knows what she likes. Like how she refuses to lay down on anything but a soft blanket. She's like the Kim Kardashian of our household.

10. She is the best damn snuggler the world has even seen.

Sally McNamara

I love to cuddle and Nell does not disappoint. When it becomes night time, she understands and begins her snuggling routine. There is nothing on this planet that makes me happier.

Honestly, I don't know how I made it through last school year without her. There's nothing like her little sighs that can put a smile on my face.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
