I think there's such a stigma against going into teaching nowadays. You may not make a lot of money at it, but if the job makes you happy, to me, that's worth a million bucks. There are so many reasons why people decide to be teachers, here are some of mine!

1. I Actually Love School

I've always been the person who loves learning and I enjoyed being in school. I loved doing homework (I know, weird right?) and I would really like to show my students that there is enjoyment to be had in school! There's such a negative stigma around being in a primary learning environment that I wish to change that later on.

2. I Love Learning About Different Cultures

I want to get a license in English as a Second Language so I can teach non-native English speakers English. It's a great opportunity because you get to see firsthand what other cultures are like.

3. Summers Off

I mean who doesn't like a break?? :)

4. The Impact You Make On Your Students

Teachers are the ones who make direct impacts on their students. They help form their dreams and turn them into reality! It's such an amazing experience!

5. My Credentials Are Portable

You aren't stuck in a "dead-end job" because you can take what you have and know and apply it to literally anything.

6. The Opportunity To Keep Learning and Growing

Giphy

In life, you never stop growing and learning. As a teacher, you will find yourself more literate about the world around us because you can see it through the minds of your students. You learn how to grow as a person and put someone else's needs in front of your own.

7. The Opportunity To Make Children Smile

Making people happy comes with the job and it's such a great thing! I mean you spend every day with them and help them create amazing futures for them.

8. The Work Environment Is Never Dull

You're always doing something new and there's always something new going on!

9. It's An Outlet For Creativity

Look up Pinterests of classroom ideas because the things you can do to be creative is unbelievable.

10. The Chance To Change The Future

Kids are the future, it's true. Whatever you may not like about the present, as an educator you have the ability to influence your students and create a brighter future for the world.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
