The Real Reasons Girls Wear Makeup

In today's society, girls are held to a certain standard. They are expected to look a certain way and behave a certain way. One thing that girls do to keep up with the image society has given them is to put on makeup every day. Some girls like to keep it simple by wearing very minimal and very natural makeup. Others like to go all out and get creative with their makeup. Reasons why girls put so much time and effort into tasks like putting on makeup ranges from making herself feel confident and put together or just making sure her appearance is as good as it can be. Here are some more in-depth descriptions of why girls wear makeup.

1. Because we're going somewhere.

A girl will look for any excuse to get ready. Any time we leave the house is a reason to put on some makeup. It's an amazing feeling to be able to get done up and be able to go somewhere and flaunt it.

2. Because we have nothing else to do.

Some of the time girls will do their makeup just because they are bored. When you sit at home all day binge watching Gossip Girl, you can get a little sidetracked. This is the time we can experiment with all the makeup we have. Since we have nothing to do, we don't have to worry about rushing around and doing a look we don't usually do and end up looking like a clown.

3. Because we want to impress someone.

As shallow as it sounds, yes, we don't only wear makeup for ourselves. If I know I'm going to see a guy whose attention I want to catch, I'll throw some makeup on. Not because I'm not pretty without it, but because it just makes me look more human. Let's face it, you naturally have bags under your eyes and you're pale from lack of sunlight. You can't walk out in the world looking like a zombie from The Walking Dead and expect some guy to fall in love with you.

4. To hide our imperfections.

Have a pimple? Cover it up with some makeup. Your nose is a little crooked? Contour your face to make it look straight. You tried to wax your own eyebrows but ended up taking off a lot of important brow? Pencil them in. Makeup is literally a savior when it comes to hiding imperfections while enhancing the features you like.

In life you have to do what makes you feel good. If putting on makeup makes you feel prettier, more confident, professional, put together, or like less of a bum then by all means put some makeup on. The makeup tutorial you just watched for smokey eyes? Why don't you give it a try, even if you think it will not look right on you? If someone asks you why you're wearing makeup, don't feel like you are obligated to give them an explanation: just do what makes you feel good about yourself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
