When you walk inside a Lilly Pulitzer store you instantly feel an air of summer. The colors and prints remind you of beach parties and sipping mimosas while laying out in the sand. As you walk around and take in the salty beach air, you begin to unconsciously pick up anything and everything to try on. Your heart flutters as each piece hangs flawlessly on the hanger as you walk into the dressing room, as if they have been waiting there just for you. The dresses seem to fit you perfectly with every style that you try on. Then comes the hard part, decision time. The moment when you have to decide which impeccable piece will now hang in your closet. As you make your decision you sadly put away all the other pieces who would’ve been another perfect addition to your collection. As you reach the counter to check out, it is as if you’re on cloud nine. You’re now the owner of another everlasting dress. A dress that will never go out of style. Once again, your heart is completely full.
From the dresses, to the planners, and all things in between Lilly is a timeless company. Every pattern is so fun and unique to wear. The first dress I ever purchased instantly gave an me an overwhelming confidence boost because I could do nothing but smile and be energetic since the patterns on my dress were so fun and playful. The bright blue ostriches just bounced perfectly off the solid white background, while the white lace neckline added the perfect balance of class to such a fun dress. Every piece I have purchased there after has never fallen short of giving the exact same feeling.
There are always the questions like “Why do you buy that?” or “Lilly is just way too expensive for me”. I’m sure my mother would love if I didn’t have such expensive taste, but to be honest I’ve never found a brand where I love every single piece they produce. I’ve never found a reason to want to wake up and put on a dress until I found Lilly. The colors are always so bright and lively, that all eyes always end up on you and the compliments become never ending because each piece is just as beautiful as the last.
The one comment that always seems to get to me though is, “You do know you can only wear that in the summer right? I mean that’s just way to bright for any other time.” Sure some of the patterns may be just a little too bright, but if there is one thing my dad did teach me, it’s that there is never a bad time to go to the beach. Even if you’re stuck in finals in the middle of December, doesn’t mean your outfit (or you) can’t wish you were somewhere on a beach.
So this beautifully decorated wine glass is raised just for you, Mrs. Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau, and for blessing us with your beautiful designs. May each new dress be as stunning as the last.
