I am a big fan of country music, and Rascal Flatts is one of my favorite country groups. They are amazing, especially the lead singer. His voice is like an angel. I've seen them in concert but that was a long time ago, like in 2013. When I heard they were going to headline a tour, I was ready to spend my money on those tickets. Especially since Dan + Shay, who is one of my all-time favorites, was going to open the concert.
This concert was supposed to happen on Friday, September 14. I was getting ready for the concert. I take a long time because I usually check my phone every 5 minutes. I was about to finish straightening my hair. I checked Instagram and then I see in capital and bold letters, "RASCAL FLATTS SHOW CANCELLED." I was like excuse me? At first, I thought it was a joke. It was 4 pm and they're going to cancel a show when people are probably already at the venue. That can't be true. I looked at the comments and people were furious. Some were celebrating their birthday and some traveled long distances to go to this concert. People were really mad. Rascal Flatts posted on Twitter that Gary LeVox, the main singer, had laryngitis and could not speak at all. Even after that post, people were still mad and not understanding at all.
I understood why they had to cancel the show, but I was so devastated. I wanted to go to this concert so badly because of Dan + Shay. I just wanted to see them perform. I literally gave up getting ready because I had no more plans for that night. But then Dan + Shay posted something that changed my life. They talked to House of Blues and decided to host a pop-up concert, all last minute. They said that they were really sorry for the canceled concert and wanted to make it up for us. At that moment, I screamed. I was panicking and showed the post to my roommate. At that moment I said, "We are going." I finished getting ready as quickly as I could. We bought the tickets and then hurried our way to the venue.
There were so many people at the concert. There was already a long line of people trying to get in when we got there. The concert was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. but it didn't start until an hour later. House of Blues is a small venue so not everyone fits. Everybody was so close to each other. I was already sweating and the concert hasn't even started yet.
That moment when Dan + Shay came on the stage, I was in another world. I was so excited that I could cry. I relate to their songs so much. Their songs speak about love and heartbreak. There would be moments when Dan + Shay would stop singing and everybody would sing the lyrics. We were so loud that I got goosebumps. I was in love.
This has been one of the best concerts I've ever attended. I literally lost my voice that night. It was great. I'm hoping that I get to meet them one day. My purpose in life would be complete if I ever do.
