If you live in Raleigh (Go Pack) and own a dog; which why wouldn't you, because they're the greatest animals in all of the existence, then this list is for you. Or maybe you don't own a dog and you just want to see them as much as possible because you're a poor college student being starved of the love of a furry, perfect companion. Either way, these are my favorite spots to take my best friend.

1. Lake Johnson

Parking can be a beast on the weekends, even with the second parking lot, but Lake Johnson is one of my favorite places to take my sweet little man. The trail around the entire lake is about 3.8 miles, so as long as we stop and swim it gets him nice and tired.

2. The Station

As if good food and good beer wasn't enough of a reason to come here, their patio is dog-friendly! I actually had my 22nd birthday dinner here, just so I could bring my favorite companion. I recommend the Bahn Mi sandwich and the jalapeno pimento cheese dip (you can thank me later).

3. Cameron Village

This location offers a plethora of dog-friendly options. I am definitely guilty of taking my pup here way too often to grab ice cream at Goodberry's (yes he gets his own cup of vanilla). But we also love to just walk around and explore. Great Outdoor Provision Company has both water bowls and treats for the sweet angels, so you don't even have to feel guilty about shopping!

*pro tip: Woof Gang charges less than the vet to do my dogs nails and they use the dremmel which causes him minimal stress. He always leaves happier than he came in.

4. Neuse River Brewing Co.

I am a huge fan of breweries, and this one is by far one of my favorites. The outdoor space is amazing, and it is puppy palooza to the max!

5. Raleigh Beer Garden

Though Neuse River has quality beers year round, if you're like me, you like to be able to mix it up. Raleigh Beer Garden allows that with hundreds of options on tap, as well as an incredible dog-friendly space. Be sure to try the pretzels as well, you won't be sorry!

6. Pullen Park

This one is tricky because if your dog is as crazy as mine, all the ducks are going to be insanely tempting for him/her, but this is definitely a spot you don't want to miss. It gives the pups tons of socialization, and if you take the bridge over the train tracks there's tons of beautiful, open green space.

7. Kiwani's Park Greenway

This spot is for sure a hidden gem, but it's beautiful trails provide an ample amount of places to stop and swim and it is often not crowded. There are even several baseball fields for your pup to run!

Have a favorite spot to take your pup in Raleigh that I didn't list? Feel free to share it, and thanks for reading!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
