It's been very rainy in South Florida lately, so I figured a little rainy day poetry might be good to set the mood! I've been really inspired lately by the weather.
Pattering against the windows
Cold in comparison to the warmth of the sun
in which you hide
behind closed eyelids
Warm and soft
I kick my feet
A womb of blankets
Thoughts drifting away
collecting dust on my shelves
Drifting in and out of sleep
an odd high that comes
without Novocain
I find myself dangerously close
to ruining my own peace
Listening to music drowns it out
The thunderous claps
I'm not afraid
I know not to be
Thirst quenching rain
The earth drinking
sloshing water about
The cup is half full
You gaze at me
sleepily
glossy eyes
Your smile takes away the rain
the sadness
You bring me joy
your sunshine
It's blinding me
Singing silenced
birds hide in their nests
Trees becoming the umbrellas
To keep out the dampness
How sad it must be
To have a home outside
Reception has cut off
I feel alone
Is this cabin fever?
When electricity stops
we all go insane
How peaceful it is
to me
How distressing it is
for you
Why be afraid?
It's just a little moisture
When the top doesn't come up
We sit in a bucket
Drenched
as if we went swimming
How can we walk around
if our clothes are stuck to our bodies?
