I am sure that we are all going to work at places where we can get occasionally stressed and we have coworkers that we cannot stand. Usually, you're supposed to brush it off and just worry about your money. But if you are really starting to feel as if you're miserable and working in a hostile environment, it's time to go.
Money honestly doesn't buy happiness. For example, I was making a really good amount of money over the summer, but I hated walking into my job because it was so much drama. I worked 2 jobs in fact. One paid me way more and the other job paid way less, but in total, I was making a lot of money. The job that paid me less was the job that I couldn't stand. I made good money over there too, sort of. Even though I'm young and need money for school, I still wasn't happy because everyone pretty much put me in a bad mood. I felt like everyone brought in negative vibes. I knew that there were other job opportunities that paid way more than what I was getting.
I then knew my self-worth and thought to myself about what I wanted. Do I stay miserable and make a lot of money with two jobs? Or quit that horrible job and only stay at the other job but make way less. It was a tough decision because the job I had paid me well, but the drama and negativity weren't worth it. Knowing that I had 2 jobs, one of them made me unhappy and the other one didn't.
I decided to go with my gut and quit the job that gave me a hard time. I gave in my 2 weeks' notice and I originally felt like a failure but then the biggest opportunity happened. I told my other job what happened and they offered me MORE hours instead of a few days a week, WITHOUT even asking. I was so relieved that my other job appreciated my hard work and decided to basically give me an extra shift that made up for my other job…plus I was making way more than the combined two jobs.
You may think that what happened was based on luck, but my point was that if you are ever feeling unhappy in another job, LEAVE, because you will never know that another opportunity may open up for you. And just because you need the money doesn't mean that you need to stay there. Like I said, there are many opportunities for jobs with better pay out there! This sounds cheesy, but going with my gut was the best thing I ever did.
