Having a bad week? Don't fret. Here are some great stories about some great puppies.
Swimming Puppy
If you haven't heard about this story, you've been living under a rock. This past week, a small Labrador puppy named Noodle escaped from the hands of his owner who was riding a ferry boat on the Gulf of Naples in Italy. Noodle slipped and fell off of the boat, and the captain told his owner that they couldn't stop, and Noodle had certainly died from the fall. However, soon enough, a few sailors enjoying the day on their small boat stumbled across the puppy, who had been treading water for over thirty minutes. They plucked the tiny guy out of the water and he was later reunited with his owner. Check out the video below.
Birthday Puppy
Wrangler, the TODAY Show's "Puppy with a Purpose", turned one year old this week. He had a huge party thrown in his honor in Rockefeller Plaza, complete with a photo booth and his own stuffed toy made in his likeness. Wrangler is a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy who is training to one day become a seeing eye dog. To celebrate Wrangler's birthday, the TODAY Show created the Wrangler Scholarship to help cover the costs of raising 8 seeing eye puppies this year.
Orphan Puppy
A puppy with her umbilical cord still attached was found in a cold and dark Canadian alleyway this week after being abandoned by her mother. While this story seemed to be heading for the worst, things quickly turned around after she was taken to the vet and connected with Nanook, a dog that had just became a new mother. The puppy, named Little Orphan Annie, and Nanook immediately bonded and Annie became a part of the litter.
Guitar Puppy
This cute little guy named Nix had just been brought home for the first time when his owner decided to play a tune for him on the guitar. He began to fall asleep. Cuteness ensued.
Flying Puppies
Pilots N Paws is an awesome organization that matches pilots with dogs that are facing death at high-kill shelters. These pilots then fly these puppies to new homes, saving their lives. Pilots, like Dan Drennan from Western New York in the video below, are passionate about what they do. Drennan estimates that he has now flown 500 puppies to safety. This time, his passengers consisted of some 3-week-old German Shepherd mixes and a 6-month-old stray named Tony.
