Every February, America gets ready to welcome its biggest sports game. Fans from both sides dress up to support their teams and in turn, the best of the best come out to prove their fans right. Yes, it is that time of the year again. It is Puppy Bowl season. Some argue that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but those people have yet to experience the glory of the kitty halftime show, the penguin pep squad, and the puppy players. With over 10 million viewers, it is safe to say that this television classic has been officially written down into history. Here are some reasons why you should choose to watch the Puppy Bowl XI this Sunday, instead of the Superbowl.
1. Puppies. The 2015 line-up has finally been released, and statistics show that the pups are even cuter than last year's. This year, the puppies have been split up into two teams: Ruff and Fluff, meaning that the competition will be fierce. The bonus? When the bowl is over, you can even adopt these cuties.
2. It is quality television. Have you ever been lying in your bed watching Netflix, when you realized that you were wasting your life away? That does not happen when you watch the Puppy Bowl. It's not "another unproductive sports game," it's entertainment, it's a great conversation starter, it's art.
3. Watching it makes you a good person. If you think that these puppies are snotty expensive purebreds, you are 100 percent wrong. The cute canines are donated from shelters from all across the country in the hopes that these dogs will finally get adopted. So if you watch the Puppy Bowl, you are making it possible for them to find loving homes (go you!).
4. Kittens. Not a dog person? No worries, that's why Animal Planet brings you the Kitty Half-time Show. At the one-hour and 15-minute mark, the canines are sent to the locker rooms and the stadium gets filled with scratching posts and fluffy felines.
5. Two words: penguin cheerleaders. Sadly, these are not up for adoption.
6. Exciting gameplay. These puppies know how to compete, even if they play a little ruff-ly sometimes. With their skill set, I can guarantee more puppy touchdowns in this game than in the real Superbowl.
Make sure you tune in to Animal Planet at 3 p.m. this upcoming Sunday. If you miss it, don't cry just yet. The bowl is aired at least three times after Puppy Bowl Sunday. But most likely, you will just tune in again to relive the PBXI's greatest moments featuring the fiercest, cutest, most adoptable pets.
