Yo Penn State, Let's Get Movin' (On)

Movin' On:

For those of you Penn Staters who live under a rock, Movin' On is the FREE, student-run mini-musical festival put on at the Park Avenue IM Fields at the end of each school year. No tickets are needed and all are welcome! Not only is it free and open to everyone 18 years and older, not just Penn State students.

Live Nation named it one of the top five college concerts in the country.

Past performers:

Nearing its 42nd birthday, it has proven to put on a great show through past performances by big-name artists such as OAR, Big Sean, Passion Pit, Run-DMC, Mayday Parade, Sky Ferreira, Big Gigantic, Nelly, Brand New, Wiz Khalifa, Atmosphere, Ludacris, MGMT, Little Big Town, Fall Out Boy and more.

This year's event:

This year's event will take place on April 28, 2017, from 3:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The performers attending will be *drumroll please* Two Door Cinema Club, All Time Low, D.R.A.M., Clean Bandit, Love and Theft, and the local Battle of the Bands winner that will be announced soon!

Thoughts on this year's lineup:

To be honest, I was let down by this year's lineup at first. The performers of recent years are just so hard to top. But once I started listening to Movin' On's Spotify playlist, I realized that it's going to be a great show. Two Door Cinema Club and All Time Low will have us feeling nostalgic— their songs, "What You Know" and "Dear Maria, Count Me In" are the type of songs you know the words to without knowing why.

D.R.A.M. will perform "Broccoli" so everyone will lose their minds. Clean Bandit will bring so much energy with hits like "Rather Be", "Real Love" and "Rockabye."

Love and Theft will bring the country, bringing out the "Angel Eyes" of everyone present.

This year's playlist:

Here's the playlist put together by the Movin' On team themselves to get you familiar with some of the musicians' songs and excited for the upcoming concert. If you like what you hear, check out this extended playlist on Spotify— or this interactive webpage on the concert's official website.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
