Just incase you have not read Proverbs 31:10-31, or those verses are not fresh on your mind let me paraphrase. These 21 verses explain a noble wife. The wife who is loving, caring, faithful, considerate, and hard-working. The wife described in this passage is the “ideal” wife and many times men will describe their wife or girlfriend as a “Proverbs 31 woman.” I was raised to be this kind of woman and while I do fail every single day I do know that whoever I marry will hit the jackpot (yes, I am bragging about myself) because every single day I strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman. So why will I be one? Let me explain.
- I want to make my husband’s life good and I want to bring him joy. In my generation we are all so selfish and many girls expect their significant other to make life easier for them. They don’t think of a relationship as each person gives 100%, they think they guy should continuously give and she shouldn’t have to do anything. I can tell you this right now, I will only do what is best for both me AND my husband because in the end that will be what is best for our relationship… unless I’m wrong.
- I want to provide for my family. I don’t care if this means I go to work everyday to help put food on the table or if it means I stay home with my children so my babies don’t have to go to daycare. Either way my husband will not be pressured to do everything. Responsibility will be shared.
- I want to be strong-emotionally, physically, and mentally. My family will always know that I will be there for them in everyway possible. Whether that be a piece of physical strength when my children fall or if worse comes to worse and someone gets sick, I will be the one to care for them. Emotional strength, in my opinion, is the most important strength because it is so hard to find; I want my family to know I am emotionally strong enough for them to come to me when they are hurting. Mental strength for when tough decisions need to be made, I never want to make a choice that will help my family and not hurt them.
- I want to be faithful. No, I am not talking about an affair or anything like that. I want to be able to keep my word, so when I tell my children or husband I will do something I want to be faithful in my actions and go through with what I said.
- I want to not be afraid of the future. The second part of verse 25 says “she can laugh at the days to come.” I want to be so confident in my family and my walk with Christ that I never have to worry about the days to come. I serve an incredible God and I want to be able to teach my children that WITH my husband so that they can know that even if life is not perfect, God is.
