Why I Am Proud To Be A Student Prince
Heidelberg University

Ever since I stepped foot at Heidelberg University, I knew this was the campus for me. The air was filled with a strong sense of pride and integrity. I knew that this was a place that I could eventually call home, my Heidelberg Home. This is a place where I have made a family for myself, and it is where I have made friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

I am proud to call Heidelberg my home. I am almost always sporting my Berg Pride whether it is just by wearing Heidelberg T-shirts or talking about how excited I am to be getting my degree from there to other people. I know for many who attend Heidelberg they feel the same way. It does not matter where you are on campus, you can tell that this is true.

As students, we are proud for many reasons to be a part of this community. Heidelberg has strong academics in every field that challenges each student and still helps to meet the studentsā€™ academic needs. We have faculty and staff that not only care about students as individuals, but also helps mentor students with things that are happening outside of the classroom. We have coaches and group advisers that want to see students succeed in life. They prepare students for a future after college, and not just for the next game. They understand that there are so many possibilities for us after our time is done here and they want us to be prepared for anything.

The student body also is a huge part of why people love the Berg. The student body is so supportive and involved on campus. Students are involved within the community of our campus and also within the community of Tiffin. The students that attend Heidelberg seem to understand that life is bigger than their small little world, and that it is important to give back to the places that give so much to you. The students also support other organizations that they are not even in. This can be seen by the crazy student sections found at all the athletic events, by the amount of people that travel to see away games and matches. It can be seen by how fast the theater fills up when plays are being performed. The amount of people that come to watch Greek Sing, band and choir concerts. We truly are well rounded individuals that enjoy watching and participating in many different things. Even when it's not our biggest interest we will always be there to support our friends. Another thing about Heidelberg is that the students are so welcoming, you can always see a smiling, friendly face while walking to class. Students are always out and about, hanging out in the dorms and everywhere else on campus. It is truly a nice homey feeling that you get when you see this and are a part of it.

All of these things make me love my time here at Heidelberg. It makes me proud to be student prince, to be not only studying here but having a life outside of the classroom that I enjoy very much. I feel that I have found my purpose while here at Heidelberg and help clarified it more as the years have passed. I will still be proud after I have graduated for many years to call Heidelberg my Alma Mater, and a place I called home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast ā€œBirthdayā€ on anyoneā€™s birthday. I knew all of the words to ā€œBack In The U.S.S.Rā€ by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. Iā€™m not someone to ā€œfangirlā€ but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
