Going to college alone can be a very scary experience. Ease the pressure and go with your best friend! Taking on college with your best friend makes the transition much easier. From simply having someone to go to the cafeteria with you to having someone to ease the homesick feeling, your best friend will always be there for you. You see this mainly in five ways.
1. You rarely get homesick.
When you begin to live away from home, you naturally look for things that remind you of where you grew up. Your best friend can bring that sense of home to your college. It makes a major difference having your best friend there rather than having no one at all.
2. You don’t have to go through the awkward new-roommate stage.
Many college students room with a random person. Sometimes this can get awkward. When you room with your best friend, you don’t have to worry about being quiet so you don’t disturb your roommate. You don’t have to worry about going to the bathroom to change clothes. You don’t have to worry about boundaries, because you and your best friend don’t have boundaries.
3. You always have someone to hang out with.
When you first go to college, the thought of going to different places alone can be intimidating. It helps to have someone there who will hang out with you. From simply going to the cafeteria to going on adventures, you will always have your best friend there with you to take it on.
4. You always have someone to carpool with.
Driving home from college can be an annoying hassle, especially if it’s far away from home. It can get very lonely making the drive all by yourself. And paying for gas every time you go home can add up really quickly. Carpooling not only gives you company on the ride but also saves you gas!
5. You have someone there to vent to.
When you move in with someone you don’t really know, you don’t typically talk to them about your personal problems. For freshmen, the first semester of college is usually the hardest. You’re at a new place with new people, and having your best friend there to talk to really does help.
I can say from personal experience that college has been a lot easier because of my best friend, Logan. I go to a college four hours and 30 minutes from my home, which isn’t very easy for me. Having Logan always there as my roommate and friend gets me through a lot of days. College provides its fair share of ups and downs. Between classes and personal relationships, it can be a bumpy ride. When you go to a new place, any reminder of home is a good thing.
