I’ve been 5’9 since I was 14-years-old. Being tall has its perks, and also it has its disadvantages. Here are the pros and cons of the tall girl standing next to you.

Con: The tall jokes. Come on.

No, I do not play basketball and the weather is just fine up here. These jokes get old, but they never stop. If I had a quarter for every time someone said to me, “You’re so tall!” I could pay off my college tuition.

Pro: “You can’t wear heels, you’re tall enough!”

False. Us tall women can show off our long legs and toned calves in any kind of shoes that we want. High heels just make them look better.

Con: Jeans = Your worst nightmare

If there’s one struggle I have, it's that my legs are three feet long and its hard to find pants that go all the way down to my ankles. American Eagle Outfitters is the only store that I trust to buy my jeans. Every time I go in there, I tend to send the workers on a wild goose chase so they can find me a size 12 long pair of cute jeans.

Pro: In elementary school, you were the first one in line for the class picture.

You were the first one to line up, and always the one in the back in the middle of the picture. You were the easiest to point out!

Con: In pictures, you look disproportionate to your other friends.

You’re the one standing in the middle holding your arms around your friends who are shorter than you.

Pro: When you’re tall, you look good in everything.

It’s true! You tend to look good in everything you wear. Also, when I bought my prom dresses, I never had to have them hemmed. It saves money.

Con: Short Dresses? Forget it.

That short sundress that I had my eye on at Charlotte Russe turned out to fit me nicely on the top but is too short to ever wear out in public. It looks normal on everyone else, but when you have long limbs, it looks disproportionate on you. Damn it.

Pro: You can reach everything.

You see that bag of goldfish on the top shelf of your pantry? You can easily reach up and grab it. When I was a kid, I was taller than most of my fellow students, and whenever we played on the monkey bars, I was the kid who could reach up and grab it, while all of the other kids were swinging with their legs in the air.

Con: Barely any of your friends wears your pants and dress size.

Those pairs of jeans that your friend has that you want to wear so badly? You can’t fit into them. That dress that you love to wear but your friends would swim in? They can’t borrow it.

Pro: When you’re around other tall girls, it makes you feel great about yourself.

You and your fellow long-legged gals share the same ups and downs together. It's a great feeling!

Con: Maxi skirts are still not long enough.

I love maxi skirts and dresses, I like them even more than short dresses (for the reason stated above). However, it's pretty rare to find a really cute maxi dress that goes down to your ankles. Your regular size is too shown but if you go a size up, it’s long enough, but it looks like a loose bag on the top. You can’t win.

At the end of the day, be proud to be tall! You have beautiful long legs and long limbs, and you can walk in confidence that your genetics turned out to be in your favor. Tall girls do it better!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
