As college students, we're a notoriously lazy bunch. So when there's something we need to buy but simply can't bring ourselves to pick off of the store shelves, adding an item to your cart in only a few clicks is always appealing. Personally, I will almost always choose online shopping over in-store shopping, but that's not to say that there aren't a few drawbacks, too.
Pros
1. Opening your laptop does not require changing out of your pajamas.
2. The gas in your car's tank can stay perfectly where it is.
3. You don't have to impatiently file through piles and piles of clothes to find the only shirt you like in your size.
4. There are no kiosk vendors to hassle you into spraying a perfume, "trying a sample," or flying a demo of that toy helicopter in the mall.
5. There are often online-only sales that exceed any in-store clearance rack.
6. There's no fear of awkwardly running into someone from your distant past in the Auntie Anne's line.
7. You can have the tabs of five different stores open and shop within them as you please.
8. You can read through pages and pages of angry reviews before deciding not to purchase that dress that all the reviewers say is too short (or buy it anyway but ultimately end up wearing it as a shirt).
9. No waiting in line for the dressing room or awkwardly hovering near them until an employee notices you need one.
10. The amount you buy isn't limited to the amount of trunk space in your car.
Cons
1. Vulnerable to weird online drunk purchases.
2. "Wait, I don't know what size I am."
3. Paying shipping.
4. Waiting for the shipment to come in.
5. Crying because you bought the wrong size.
6. Returning. Lots of returning.
But still worth it.
