It's the beginning of my sophomore year of college, and I can assure you it is nothing like being the nervous yet excited freshman I was last year. I got to experience a lot of firsts: being away from home, having a roommate, harder classes and meeting new people. I moved to a different state, hours away from home. I lived with people I had never met and away from all of the familiar faces back in my home state. But this year, as I go back to the beautiful state of Vermont, I know what to expect and what I need to change. I get to see all of the incredible people I met over the year and became close to.
Sophomore year for me means focusing on better study and organization habits. In high school, I barely had to study for a test and would do great. That outlook changed drastically as the fast paced classes and harder tests all came flying at me. This year I intend to work much harder and more efficiently, especially as my schedule gets more grueling.
I am thankful for the people I met last year. They have become some of my best friends. As sophomore year starts, I am exhilarated to begin making more memories with them. From hours of studying in the library, to just sitting around eating pizza and laughing at two in the morning, we have been through it all. And that was only our first year.
Honestly, it's kind of sad thinking I won't be the young, clueless freshman at school anymore. I feel like I took freshman year for granted because I blinked and it was over. Although I still have three years left, if they go any way this past year went, they will fly by in an instant. Then again, at least I will know my way around campus.
