Preparing for an Online Semester!

This semester, I will be studying college online! During the past week, I've been preparing a lot for the upcoming semester, and because of that, I feel much more organized and ready for Zoom University. Here are some things I recommend you do too, to better situate yourself for the semester.

Try using Notion!

Notion is an application that allows you to organize your life! It's free for personal use. In Notion, I made pages for each of my classes for this semester where I can store their notes, resources, and other pertinent information. You can also add calendars, set reminders, and create tables. The best part is that you can add emojis to customize each page!

Review Syllabi!

To prepare for my classes, I always review the syllabi. One thing I love to do is highlight all of the important dates, such as exam, homework, and essay dates. Then, I go to Google Calendar and make events for each of these dates. This helps me always stay on top of things and never forget an assignment.

Organize your Google Drive!

My Google Drive has been in shambles. Every time I create a new document, I don't sort it into any folder, nor do I name the document an appropriate name. Taking the time to create folders for every class and sorting each document into the appropriate folder will really help you stay ahead on getting organized. I also made a folder for my extracurricular activities for any documents relating to them. Google Drive lets you customize the colors of the folders as well, so you can make each folder stand out!

Create a Pass Tracker!

After watching a YouTube video, I decided to create a pass tracker Google Sheets for one of my classes. What a pass tracker is is a way to check how many times you reviewed a lecture. It helps you know your weaknesses as well, as you rate how difficult the subject material was for you each "pass," or each time you go through a lecture again. This is a great way to get the material through your head!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
