The word compromise is not always a bad thing! No, it does not mean you become weak because you have slightly bent over for someone else's comfort. No it does not mean losing your soul because you've entertained opposing ideas. To compromise is to be so strong in your truth that you know it will reveal itself whether others believe it or not, therefore you are willing to let others find their own way to the truth through some of their own means. Compromise is that word politicians and certain believers can't say. Why? Not because they are strong in what they believe, but actually it's quite the opposite.
Why is there even an argument over gun violence? Think very carefully about this. We all want to stop violence right? Some argue it's the people, not the guns while others shoot back with it's the overload of guns that we allow people to have. But where in any of these arguments do we consider two factors AT THE SAME TIME in gun violence. You need both a gun and a person to kill so coming together to perhaps do something about both might be helpful. Now, I know the situation is more complicated than this because there are some people who aren't willing to let their right to own a gun be restricted in any form. But this is how you can tell when someone is really standing on a cause versus them just being stubborn for arguments' sake. If YOU qualify for a gun because you are a "good guy" then what is YOUR problem with deeper background checks. And just so no one thinks I'm bias if we are going to put any restriction on guns there NEEDS to be a line drawn before we propose even the slightest of limitations on purchase ability.
Let's look at the transgender people in their preferred bathroom argument. So we have the one side of the spectrum that says transgender people are people too and they should be aloud to use the bathroom that suits the gender they identify as just like everyone else. However, on the opposite end of the stick we have those who fear for their safety and don't want pedophiles and rapists to be able to just claim any gender so that they can walk into any bathroom and do harm. These are two great, sound and human arguments. You don't have to agree with them or their reasoning but in order to create productivity you must move. Being productive means to produce and you don't produce anything when standing still on separate points of view. We must make wiggle room for our brothers and sisters who want to be able to do their own thing so let's think of what we can do to MOVE united. People are afraid of letting anyone just pose as a transgender to enter bathrooms so how about we mandate new bathroom ID laws that make everyone verify who they are. If you are transgender you will have to change your ID status but that should be okay, especially after all the change you have already, so bravely, made. And if you are worried about your safety people, don't because this same law is used to buy guns, drink alcohol, and do a number of other risky things. Plus now we have a happy employed bathroom monitor like we did back in the days.
See how compromise works. Though you may not agree with any of my suggestions at least I've made you take the time to assess another option other than your own. Politicians should be doing this very thing everyday. After all they must take a conflict and resolution class to attain their major anyways. This presidential debate shouldn't be about who has a stronger hold on their views because let's be honest we know what Democrats stand for and we know what Republicans stand for. Their political ideas are not new to us. This debate should be about who can come up with the better compromise. Now this is new. To solve conflict we must appreciate our brothers and sisters and the ideas they have to offer. Not because we can always come to agreement but because we can always get things done that way. The issue with politicians is money, but the issue with the people who support politicians is pride. These two words are lethal, not the word COMPROMISE.
