Pokemon Ok Go

Don't judge a person by their Pokemon.

I'm sure everyone knows about the new Pokémon app called Pokémon Go. It was released in the United States on July 6, 2016 and has broken all sorts of records with the amount of downloads it received. Since that day, it has been a massive topic of discussion. I just have a couple problems with some things people have been saying about the game though.

Many people I know love playing the game. It gets them out of the house and off to explore new places they have never been or haven't been to in a long time. The app brought back an aspect of their childhood. With everything that has been going on in the world recently don't you think people need an escape from the negativity?

The issue I have lies not with the players, but with the people who don't play. I have seen numerous articles shared on social media that bash Pokémon Go. They say things like “Pokeman go is so stupid” and “ur a literal child if u play that game” (these are 100 percent real quotes). The question I ask is why do these people have such a problem with the game?

For years it’s been the same line “Get off your phone and go outside”. Now with Pokémon Go you’re encouraged by the game to go outside and move around. It pretty much forces you to walk around when you want to play. If you don’t go out, you’ll never catch anything or gain experience points. Just like in the original Pokémon games, you could gain more experience without making Ash travel to different towns and gyms in search of the pocket monsters.

I also get annoyed at the fact that older people are judged for playing the game. It really makes no sense. Pokémon was created in 1995 and was a massive hit with kids in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Just so everyone knows, 1995 was 21 years ago! Which means if a 10 year old loved Pokémon back in 1999, they would be 27 years old now. Even if a 99-year-old person is playing Pokémon Go, there should be absolutely no judgment.

In the end, if you don’t like Pokémon Go that’s perfectly fine. On the other hand, if you judge and criticize the people who do enjoy it, that is not fine. Who is anyone to call out another person on what they enjoy, and tell them it’s lame just because they don’t personally like it? Let each other live, we only have a short time to do it. I mean after all, it takes a decent amount of time to be the very best, like no one ever was.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
