Life is a journey, and throughout the past decade I have been on a journey of finding myself in the midst of being lost and taking multiple detours. But as of late I have been finding myself taking a different path that has been on the beaten path, where something is awaiting me to continue on my lifelong journey of spirituality, self worth, and overall growth of becoming the person that I am meant to be. And that is how this poem came about. This poem is about how life calls out to us in the most unique and personal ways.
Her siren song lures me from across the pond
to which I wonder where it is coming from.
"Come home." She sings.
"Come back, and live in harmony."
As she continued to sing
my heart yearned to go to the place
that keeps calling out to me.
Where are you?
Where are you hiding?
Where am I running to?
Wait just a moment,
I'm no longer running,
instead I am returning.
Returning to the place that calls itself my home,
a place that holds my roots,
a place where my children and descendants will roam,
yes, I am finally returning home.
What awaits me there
I do not know,
but this much I know is true,
a pair of north sea eyes searches for me in the midst of the chaos,
and I continue to follow the siren song
back to those eyes that yearn for chapter two.
Under the frozen rivers,
deep into the unknown
the siren keeps singing out,
urging me to keep coming home.
"Chapter One is now finished." She sings ever so softly.
"It is time for Chapter Two,
and this time you will be ready."
Day by day the song keeps getting louder,
and I've decided to not fight it anymore,
for what awaits me when I meet the siren
is a treasure that has been sitting ever so patiently,
but what it entails is beyond everything I have ever dreamt it to be.
