Of all the adventures and journeys to hear about, the toad's is certainly not a popular choice. This creature has a story and its own secrets too, but nobody is concerned with what the toad's journey entails. There are numerous other animals with wings and soft fur like silk so why waste time to ask about a toad?
No one thinks to ask
Not a single soul ponders
Why the uncomely toad loves to wander.
It sets off on a journey
“To the darkness I go!”
To a wonderful place that nobody knows.
A land doused in oil
Burning flames of freedom
This cherished escape is its very own kingdom.
The overwhelming solitude of a seashore,
Surreptitious indeed.
Spiritless waves tumble and shake the seas.
The colliding of waves stir the ocean
Tides crashing and shattering against the shore
Like glass against silk, a piercing war.
Yet the toad continues to retire
To such a chaotic atmosphere
Because it can not retreat anywhere but here.
Where the clouds shade
A luminescent moon hanging beneath a rufescent sky.
Beams of moonlight strike the beach casting a bloodshot shadow.
“Oh how the waves collide and tumble!”
That ruby haze drips along the seaside
A toad’s journey feels like an eternal ride.
Immortality desired by those who are blind.
This existence is callous; far from devine
“So why would I ever want to stop time?”
Not a creature in this forest
Not a single one ever thought
To ask the uncomely toad of the monster it fought.
A scuffle as huge as the ocean itself
Yet there is only one solitary soldier contending
Against a beast so magnificent and unrelenting.
A flood completely fabricated
By an untouchable entity clothed in gloom
Born from the toad’s very own womb.
The imagination is dangerous
For it can take the toad to alternate realities
Of wine soaked beaches and personal atrocities.
The toad’s journey runs deep
Into the crevices of the mind
Where the water is cold; completely confined.
Shackled by an aching devotion
To travel to its hidden haven
The toad’s intentions are not to be questioned.
