I wrote this poem a long time ago and just now added to it. I never feel like a poem is done and I'll always revise. This poem is very dark and it was inspired by Chicken Soup For Soul (I love these books, where did they go? Article idea.) The poem is located here. The poem always makes me cry and my mom hung it on the wall of our house, where she would make up read it before we went out. She wanted us to see the cost of drinking and driving, even if you weren't the one drinking. It's a poem written about a mother who lost her daughter to a drunk driver. I really encourage you all to read the poem and her story before reading mine. Her poem touches your soul and I also suggest you read it before you go out, even if you aren't the one drinking. Talk to your friends and share the message of sober driving. This poem also speaks about a car accident and maybe they will make you think twice before going out.
A blinding flash,
we collided with a loud smash,
Moving in slow motion, watching broken glass,
How fast?
I feel pain all over,
Was he sober?
I guess not.
My blood feels so hot,
Sliding down my arms,
Did he mean to cause me harm?
He shouldn't have gotten in his car,
If he hadn't, I wouldn’t be lying here.
I feel it’s near,
The clock ticks,
I feel so sick,
My fear is like a kick.
Yells and shouts fill the air,
They are aware.
The end is here,
On death’s doorstep free and clear.
The poem is titled Crash.
