What is poetry? Is it going out of style? Is poetry even still relevant in this society?

Of course poetry is still relevant! Not only is it incredibly relevant, it is necessary; an essential fragment of today's society. It can reach and affect a wide array of people and, for some, it is their whole life. They live and breathe poetry. Their world revolves around the formation of poems.

Poetry is an expression of deep feelings, emotions, and aesthetics that leaves its writer extremely open and vulnerable to the feedback and judgment of the world. It can help release all of the bottled up emotions that can build up inside of you during hard times. Poetry can even help people build relationships amongst others. It forms a kind of community; a special bond between two or more souls that is special and very much unique and unlike any other kind of bond.

Poetry is a piece of art that contains emotional sincerity. It has a profound insight that gives a poet the ability to idealize his or her reality and see the world around them in a particular way. The poet can express their feelings to be represented in such a way as to delight all of the people reading.

Poetry can help you deal with intense feelings such as anger, frustration, headache, heartbreak, hopelessness, depression, isolation, and ignorance. It does not have to be negative though! Poetry can also celebrate, encourage, beautify the mundane things, and instill noble thoughts in us. It can produce amazing feelings in us of nostalgia and euphoria.

I am sure we can all agree that the average person in this day and age is not at all very likely to go out, pick up a book of poetry, and read it (unless they have to for class). It is just not something that is done very often anymore.

This does not mean that poetry is going out of style though; just changing in popular mediums. It is still a beautiful concoction of intense feelings and intricate wording. Every generation has creates their own form of poetry. My generation has been giving a large awareness to power that is the art of poetry slams and conventions in recent years.

Poetry is never going to go out of style; but, like everything beautiful in the world, it is going to go through some changes to fit the society built around it. Change is not necessarily good or bad; it is just different. If there is one thing that is certain, it is that there will always be someone out there writing some form of poetry for all of us to admire and cherish for years to come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
