The Best Podcasts To Listen To At The Gym Or While Working Out

While you're exercising, you need a distraction. Whether it's the pretty scenery that some of the equipment screens have as a part of their outdoor courses. Or a companion working out next to you. Or a special workout playlist. But why not try something else? Like a podcast.

What are good podcasts for working out? Well, in my humble opinion, and from my personal experience, there are three qualifications. One, there needs to be a variety of episode times, you never know how long you'll be working out. Two, it needs to be entertaining enough that it distracts you from the pain. Three, it needs to be somewhat feel-good, to give you some level of motivation.

These podcasts are the best examples of all three qualities, so feel free to listen to them at the gym.

1. LadyGang

i.vimeocdn.com

Hosted by Entertainment Tonight's Keltie Knight, actress Becca Tobin, and clothing designer Jac Vanek, this podcast features celebrity interviews, celebrity gossip, advice, and funny stories about people's lives. What's great about this podcast is that they feature two different episodes; a regular one, and a "quickie," which is about half the length of the regular. Both types are great for a workout.

2. Anything from Carla Marie & Anthony

These former "Elvis Duran" panelists bring their quirky relationship to three podcasts, almost all under forty minutes. MyDayFriday, the duo's first podcast, features them answering fan questions, playing songs, and banter. The Morning Show is a typical radio show, featuring their equally fun co-hosts and fun segments like headlines and callers telling their secrets. And Last Call is the podcast recorded after the radio show, and features whatever topic the hosts come up with.

3. The 15 Minute Morning Show

Speaking of Elvis Duran, this podcast features "Elvis" panelists talking about whatever happened on the day's show, as well as other topics. All episodes are under 15 minutes, hence the title, and are a hilarious listen.

4. The Bitch Bible

Hosted by Jackie Schimmel, this podcast's episodes feature her opinions on everything from pop culture, to TV, to bridal showers. Jackie is cynical, dramatic, and oddly inspiring, which can make the most mundane stories exciting.

5. It's Been A Minute With Sam Sanders

This is from NPR, but don't worry, it isn't boring. Each week, Sam tackles a unique topic, and reaches out to people familiar with that topic. His voice is very calming and you will learn things you never knew before.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
