Want your workout for the year? Just climb sleeping bear dunes and you will understand. The view will be worth it, don't worry.

2. Silver Beach, St. Joe

Is home to the best pizza and the best views of lake Michigan!

3. New Buffalo

Do you love to drive and stop by little markets and antique fairs? Then just drive down to New Buffalo and you will stop on the way at some great markets!

4. South Haven

Because what is summer without spending the majority of it at the beach? South Haven is the perfect place.

5. Ann Arbor

If you are looking for a very "green" town to visit that is laid back and has tons of quaint little shops, then A2 is the place to be this summer.

6. Harbor Springs

It is known for its skiing in the winter but the cute little town is great to shop in and is home to many beaches on the water.

7. Traverse City

Is home to some of the best views of the lake.

8. Michigan Adventures

Who doesn't enjoy a good theme park in the middle of summer?

9. Holland

Holland is known for the tulip festival in the beginning of the summer. It is a beautiful quaint town.

10. Hell

I mean not that Hell is a place we want to be, Hell, Michigan attracts many tourists every year just so they can say they have been to "hell" and back.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
