Saint Louis, Missouri is what most people would consider "flyover country". However, it is actually pretty nice here and we just won the Stanley Cup so to many we have been put on the map. I could go on and on about all the places to visit and food to eat but that would probably bore many. So I have come up with a condensed list of seven that covers most of the bases.

1. Ted Drewes Frozen Custard

Grace Kennard

Celebrities from all over have come to try this world famous ice cream. The custard is so thick that you can hold your cup upside down and it won't fall out. Seriously amazing. My favorite is the Smores concrete.

2. The Arch

Ok duh. I would say if you have never been to the top and you never plan to come back to Saint Louis ever again do it. But really if you don't you're not missing out on a lot. It's a very cool view but the Arch grounds itself is nice to just walk around and explore.

3. Tropical Moose Shaved Ice

If you are here in the summer this is a must do. They have tons of flavors and you can mix as many as you like. My favorite is Pink Champagne Fizz with nerds.

4. Forest Park

The bigger, better Central Park...yes I said it. The Zoo is free and amazing, Art Hill is a perfect spot for a picnic, the Boathouse offers kayaks and paddleboats for rental, there are two golf courses, the Muny (an outdoor live theater), and honestly so many other things to discover for yourself. It's beautiful and most of it is free so it is a perfect way to spend a nice day outside.

5. So Many Amazing Restaurants I Can't Name Them All

I am not exaggerating. There are so many different restaurants that must be tried when visiting Saint Louis it probably can't be done in a couple days.

6. Imos Pizza

Saint Louis style pizza. It's delicious. Just don't knock it until you try it.

7. Toasted Ravioli

Fried ravioli. Seriously...amazing.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
